Message from the Chairman

It is my pleasure to introduce to you the International Business Chamber of Cambodia ('IBC'). Founded with nine members in Phnom Penh in 1993 as 'The Corporate Club' we are today an officially registered Association with approximately 70 member companies from 19 countries providing networking, speakers' lunches, briefings on economic and political developments affecting the business environment, conference and workshop organising, meetings with visiting delegations, social events, and so on.
Perhaps the most important role that the IBC plays is its part in the Government-Private Sector Forum ('G-PSF') which is a biannual meeting between the Prime Minister and his Cabinet and the business community. In preparation for this there are monthly or bi-monthly meetings of eight sectorial Working Groups one of which, the Working Group 'D' on Law, Tax and Good Governance, receives administrative support from the IBC. This cross-cutting Working Group is considered as 'the first amongst equals' because it is co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Mr Keat Chhon, Minister of Economy and Finance who is also the titular head of the whole G-PSF, with myself as the Private Sector co-chair. For many, Working Group D is considered 'the court of last resort' as it can and does take on issues which might not fit into the other working groups.
For many foreign business delegations planning to visit Cambodia the IBC is the first on the list of organisations to be contacted. Hosting and providing briefings to visiting missions is one of the most significant parts we play in promoting business and investment in the Kingdom.
I hope this information pack will give you some idea of the important role the IBC plays in the business community in Cambodia. Should you have any further inquiries or wish to receive information about membership please contact us using the enclosed form.
Yours truly,
Bretton Sciaroni
